- Heat complex forgings
- Determine job requirements
- Comply with work health and safety (WHS) requirements at all times
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with SOPs
- Identify job requirements from specifications, sketches, job sheets or work instructions
- Set up and operate forging machine
- Select and use complex open die tooling following safe operating procedures
- Forge complex shapes and heavy parts
- Mark and measure hot forgings, as required, making allowance for material shrinkage and oxidisation
- Use hammer tools and fixtures attached to power hammer
- Check forging to ensure conformance to tolerances and specifications
- Handle forgings in a safe and correct manner
- Apply techniques used to heat heavy and complex forgings
- Perform post-forging heating in accordance with procedures
- Apply correct techniques in handling of hot forgings
